This Privacy Policy explains how the Bethunana Academymobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, and protects your information. The App is operated by Bethunana Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the App you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who this applies to
The App is an educational tool for enrolled Bethunana Academy students. Accounts are created and managed by Bethunana Academy. The App is not intended for general public sign-up, and account holders are typically learners enrolled with the academy.
2. Information we collect

We do not collect advertising identifiers, and the App does not include third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
3. How information is stored on your device
To keep you signed in and to support offline use, the App stores the following locally on your device: your session (including your name, grade, role, and an authentication token), your notification preference, a record of assessments already seen, and any videos you have downloaded. This information remains on your device and is removed when you sign out (session data) or delete the App.
4. How your information is used
- To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
- To display your courses, lessons, assessments, and performance.
- To let you change your password and manage your account.
- To show local notifications about new assessments in your enrolled courses.
- To enable downloading and offline playback of lesson videos.
5. Notifications
With your permission, the App periodically checks our examination platform for newly published assessments in your enrolled courses and shows a local notification on your device. These are generated on your device; we do not use a third-party push-advertising service. You can turn notifications off at any time from the Profile screen in the App or in your device settings.
6. How information is shared
Your information is processed by the Bethunana Academy learning platform (bethunanaacademy.co.za) and examination platform (baonlineexaminations.com) to provide the App’s features. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
7. Data security
Communication between the App and our platforms is encrypted using HTTPS. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data retention
Account, enrolment, and assessment records are retained by Bethunana Academy for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide educational services and meet legal obligations. Data stored locally on your device persists until you sign out or uninstall the App.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is used by enrolled learners, who may be minors. Accounts are issued and managed by Bethunana Academy in connection with a learner’s enrolment. We collect only the information necessary to provide educational services. Parents or guardians with questions about a learner’s data may contact us using the details below.
10. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law and our record-keeping obligations as an educational provider. To make a request, contact us using the details below. You can sign out of the App at any time to clear your session from the device.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
